Arrive Hanoi

 

Welcome to Vietnam!

 

You will be met in the arrivals hall and transferred to your downtown hotel.

 

The remainder of the day will be all yours to stroll around the Old Quarter of Hanoi, or if you prefer, simply relax.

Day 2

Hanoi City Tour & Walk the Railway track of Hanoi

 

After a late breakfast, you'll jump head-first into Hanoi's sights and sounds on a tour that covers all the essentials. You'll visit the Temple of Literature, which, dating back to 1070, is Vietnam’s oldest university, followed by the enthralling Museum of Ethnology, which contains an extensive display of life-size structures dedicated to Vietnam’s 54 ethnic minorities.

In the afternoon, start your walking tour on the rails between a few meters north Hanoi's main Train station. Walk along the very narrow streets hosting the rails sometime not even a meter far from the entrance door of houses! Enjoy this original and photogenic scene walking along the street. Continue walking toward Long Bien train station. From Long Bien train station start crossing the bridge with an optional stop en-route to go down the stairs onto the urban island. Walking along the bridge and meet with the car which will transfer you to Gia Lam train station where you will get your train ticket and hop on the train for a short ride crossing the Long Bien bridge, riding with the locals in the hard seater wagon. On week days you will stop at Long Bien as terminus and on Saturday and Sunday you will stop at Hanoi Station. You will disembark and transfer back to your hotel.

Day 3

Hanoi - Halong (Seaplane) - Bai Tu Long Bay Cruising

 

At 10.00 A.M, you will be transferred to Noi Bai airport in Hanoi to board the 30 min. flight by seaplane to Halong Bay. Enjoy fabulous aerial views over the countryside and experience the thrill of a water landing at the Tuan Chau Marina. Enjoy the landscape of the Red River Delta countryside and panoramic view of Halong Bay, one of the most spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Areas and the world's largest marine limestone 'karst' landscape.

The first day of your cruise provides an introduction to the amazing scenery of Halong Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay. Cruising through Halong Bay will literally take your breath away.

Depart from Tuan Chau, meet the on board team and receive a safety briefing. Acquaint yourself with the five elements cuisine with lunch on board, while The Au Co cruises leisurely towards Vung Ha area. First, visit the beautiful Vung Ha beach for swimming and water activities.

Back to The Au Co to join a Cooking demonstration then enjoy Happy Hour with “Buy One Get One Free”: Beer, House wine (by the glass), Soft drinks, Long drinks, Cocktails

Savour our five elements signature dinner of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. After that, you could relax with a drink at Lan Ha bar or enjoy squid fishing from the main deck

The boat will anchor for the night in a peaceful location.

Day 4

Bai Tu Long Bay, lan Ha Bay & Cat Ba Island

 

Start the day with Tai Chi - physical movements designed for relaxation, balance and health - on the sundeck of the boat while enjoying the panorama.

After breakfast on board, visit the Vung Vieng by rowing traditional bamboo boats for about an 1 hour.

Then, come back to the boat and take a tour of the Captain's Bridge and the Engine Room. After that, savour a delicious lunch in the Halong Restaurant while the ship cruises towards Lan Ha Bay and Cat Ba Island for a guided biking or hiking excursion in the national park of Cat Ba Island and visit of The Au Co Organic Farm. Another option for visiting the island and the organic farm is to use the electric trolley service available (at small extra cost). After that, kayak and swim in Viet Hai Lagoon.

Back to The Au Co to enjoy an extended Happy Hour for two hours (half price drinks). Try the barbeque buffet in the restaurant while the boat is at anchor.

The day ends with a drink at Lan Ha bar or join our crew and try squid fishing on the deck. Last but not least for the day, join our kitchen staff for fun fruit carving sessions.

Day 5

Halong Bay cruising - Hanoi(by Seaplane) - Flight to Danang

 

Halong Bay, designated a UNESCO world heritage site for its limestone rock formations, is home to about 2,000 isles and islets of different shapes and sizes, creating a truly breath-taking seascape. Halong Bay is also attractive for beautiful beaches on the small islands. Awake early and join the Tai Chi session on the sundeck or enjoy the breath-taking views of the bay while The Au Co cruises leisurely in Halong Bay.

On the way back to port, enjoy breakfast and take a last glimpse of the beautiful scenery from the bar or sundeck. Then, participate in a guided tour of Sung Sot (Surprise) Cave.

After breakfast, prepare for check out: your bags must be put in the corridor. You can also join a Vietnamese traditional tea ceremony.

Upon your arrival at the Tuan Chau pier, leave behind the breath-taking beauty of limestone karts jutting out of the jewel like water in Halong bay, board our seaplane before enjoying a thrilling water takeoff from Hai Au Aviation dock at Tuan Chau Marine Island to get back to bustling Hanoi within just 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Noi Bai airport in Hanoi, connect with an afternoon flight to Danang. When you arrive, you'll be met and transferred to The Nam Hai Resort for 3-night accommodation.

Day 6

Hoi An - Morning Guided Walking Tour


At 8:30 sharp, your guide will meet you at your hotel lobby to give you a proper show-around of the old town. You'll start a walking tour with a lion's share of places of interest: the 400-year old Japanese Covered Bridge; the Phuc Kien Assembly Halls; the museum and the colourful local market. Following the narrow lanes, you'll meander through tiny streets studded by houses influenced by Chinese, Japanese, French and European architecture.

After a tasty lunch at a good Vietnamese restaurant, your time will be your own to wander around or get some retail therapy.

 

This afternoon is your own. If you wish to get your clothes tailored, head to a tailor in town and he will turn back to you within 24 hours at a reasonable cost.

Day 7

Hoi An

 

A free day in Hoi An to spend as your wish!

Apart from exploring Hoi An's World Heritage architecture & colorful market on foot, you might visit Vietnam's grandest Cham ruins at My Son; attend a cooking class at a riverside restaurant; or join other travelers to get up close and personal to daily farming and fishing life. For early risers, why not capture the real Hoi An by joining a 4-hour photography tour led by a local expat expert? If you want to go below, hop on a boat to Cu Lao Cham Island for a fun and relaxing day to explore exotic coral reefs and marine life [best between March & September]. Day 8

Ho Chi Minh City and Afternoon City Tour

 

First up, you head to Danang airport for your morning flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival, you'll be met by another local expert who will escort you to your hotel.

This afternoon you'll embark on a guided city tour, starting with the War Remnants Museum - a real eye-opening part of Vietnam's proud history; followed by the Reunification Palace; the former South Vietnam Presidential Palace; the Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Post Office, as you get your camera working overtime peeking into the past of Vietnam's biggest, most energetically progressive city. Delve deeper into Chinatown by visiting the amazing Cholon and Binh Tay Market for an insight into where the locals actually shop. Then you'll be back at your hotel in time to have a bit of a stroll around the city centre, or simply relax.

Day 9

Ho Chi Minh City - Cooking Class & Cu Chi Tunnels.

Learn the secrets of local Cuisine with our English speaking Vietnamese Chef!

08.30 AM, you will be transferred to Agricultural Village which is about 40km from the city centre. Upon arrival, you will visit a vast farm and an organic garden with many different kinds of herbs, spices and vegetables. Your guide will show you around and explain the use of them. You will also visit the Mushroom House to learn how to grow mushrooms. Later, experience what it is like to be a Vietnamese farmer – select herbs and vegetables from the garden under guidance of your chef. Sit down and discover Vietnamese kitchenware to cook and enjoy a tasty 3 courses meal under guidance of your talented professional chef. You will then sample your own dishes after cooking. During the class you can just concentrate on the pleasure of discovering and cooking, you will be provided all detailed recipes at the end. Menu for vegetarians or customers with specific food allergies can be adapted so please let us know in advance so we can accommodate for you. Kids from 7 years old are welcome.

After lunch you will drive to visit the Cu Chi tunnels. The tunnels are 75 kms northwest of Ho Chi Minh City, an area that played an important role during Vietnam’s wars for independence and unification. The more than 200 km of tunnels built here by the Communist guerrillas are the often the highlight of South Vietnam touring. You can explore the bedrooms, meeting rooms, air-raid shelters, smokeless kitchens, and experience life underground in this extraordinary tunnel complex. Return by road to Ho Chi Minh City, arriving in the late afternoon.

Your time will be your own until being picked up to head to Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat Airport for your onward journey or departure flight. Farewell from Vietnam!

It is recommended that you check in online for your departure flight so that you can avoid long queues at the airport check in counters.
