Monday 12th August 2019

Board the Caledonian Sleeper from London Euston

Something just feels wrong about boarding a flight to take you to a luxury overland journey, and we have the solution. The Caledonian Sleeper transports you from London to Edinburgh while you sleep, giving you maximum time in Scotland's enthralling capital.

Tuesday 13th August 2019

A morning arrival into Edinburgh Waverley station means you can drop your bags and set off to explore the nearby sights and shops. From 3pm, you can check in for your 1 night stay at the legendary Waldorf Astoria The Caledonian, affectionately known as the “Caley”.

Wednesday 14th August 2019

After breakfast at your hotel, and a morning at your leisure, it's time to board the Royal Scotsman and delve into the Scottish Highlands. Not long after pulling out of Waverley station, you'll cross the famous Forth Bridge, voted Scotland's greatest man-made wonder. You'll have time to relax while taking in the views, or you could seize the opportunity to visit Scotland's “Spa on Rails”. In the evening, enjoy an informal dinner, followed by entertainment in the Observation Car.

Thursday 15th August 2019

As part of your Royal Scotsman experience, this morning you visit the Rothiemurchus Estate in the Cairngorms, with the opportunity to try clay pigeon shooting or fishing, or simply enjoy a tour of the estate. In the afternoon, you'll visit the Culloden Battlefield, famous for the decisive battle of the Jacobite Rising of 1745. With a dedicated tour, you'll uncover how a short and bloody battle changed the Scottish Highlands forever.

Friday 16th August 2019

As you debark the Royal Scotsman, taking fond memories with you, you'll once again check into the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh. You have most of the day to relax and prepare for the final hurrah of your trip – an evening at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. This world renowned spectacle showcases the musical talent of the British Army, who are joined by international military and cultural acts.

This is no ordinary entrance ticket however; you'll enjoy a three-course dinner in Edinburgh Castle's Jacobite Room, accompanied by fantastic views of the city. Then, the show itself; you'll be seated close to the performers and your official programme will guide you through the experience.

Pipes, drums and kilts galore, with Edinburgh Castle as a backdrop, this is a sell-out every year and the perfect way to conclude your Scottish encounter.

Saturday 17th August 2019

Enjoy your final Scottish breakfast of the trip early, and you'll have time to enjoy one more outing into Edinburgh before boarding your train back to London.

The above itinerary is possible for just £3649 per person, but we can tailor to your own wants and wishes.

Hotel subject to availability at time of booking. Access to Edinburgh Castle includes walking on cobbles and up steep inclines, which may not suit those with mobility issues.
